Hi all
Is it just me or are you finding it hard to sell on ebay at the minute?
I was wondering if it was becasue of the holidays?
Any tips on when the best time is for the listing to end, I usually do mine to end on sundays between 5-9pm.
A recent listing ended which was a dress that cost £120, sold for 4.99.
I know i should of started the listing at a higher price but thought the bidding would go up
.
Seems very slow at the min, any tips?
Thanks

It doesn't matter when you finish a listing really. If the item is going to sell it will sell no matter when. You can get a better price to get the last minute bidders if you end 7pm-10pm. But then it depends on your target audience. When would the people who buy this be on the computer?
But August is always very slow and dead. People are on holiday and children are home and most people are too busy with kids to get on Ebay. I list a few things in August but always start them at a price I want to sell at otherwise you can rack up big losses.0 -
Some people are on holiday abroad.
Those on holiday at home are perhaps enjoying the sunshine (?) outside rather than indoors on the computer.
Those at work are covering for those who are on holiday, so less time to buy things on ebay!
I'd try ending auctions around 9pm, as people would be indoors, but dinner would be out the way!Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')
No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)0 -

Don't know about you, but I find that either nobody buys after 8pm, or if they do, they pay a few days later.
It seems to be quite a hassle when trying to collate a lot of items to go to PO, (if you get what I mean) as PO quite far, and means have to post everyday/every other day. I'd rather send everything on the Monday/Tuesday, than send items nearly everyday/other days...(unless you are not working BTW?)0 -
I always finish my items on a Sunday at about 11pm. This Sunday it looked like most of my items wouldn't sell but then at the last minute I sold 6 items out of 11. So not too bad considering its August and alot of people are on holiday.0

Best time to sell on Ebay was about three years ago..lol. Although I appreciate that it doesnt help your situation much, before someone tells me how unhelpful I am.
I agree with the poster above....i something is a gem, then it will sell no matter what time it ends.May £10 a day challenge£19.61/£310Ebay challenge...£12.61/£2000 -
Wait a bit until the dark nights draw in probably from the end of September onwards. I always found that a Monday and Tuesday night were 2 of the better nights.0

August is slow as others have said. I will not bother again in August but I will forget next year I expect.:rotfl:I came in to this world with nothing and I've still got most of it left. :rolleyes:0 -
Thanks for all the advice. Guess i should just forget about listing in August next year or list at the price i want to get for it! How come when im bidding on something though, it always goes sky high lol. sods law!0

I agree with the others, worst time of year, roll on dark nights and wet weather!
I find lunch time quite good, around 1pm, as people are sitting a their desks with a sandwich either playing solitaire or looking at eBay. Otherwise after 5 or 6pm on a Saturday or Sunday. I have sold quite a few larger items- computer equipment at this time, I think a beer or two slackens off buying resistance!!0
