Bit of a random Q, about door locks!

I can advise you (through personal experience ) that the bottom panels on uPVC doors can be kicked in very easily, also even if you spend a fortune on a euro cylinder they are only held in with a thin screw which will not stand up to lot of thumping. Another problem is that nowadays the letterbox is too near the lock for my liking. I have now gone back to a hardwood door with a pair of Banhams on it, hinge bolts and a "London Bar" that fits into a groove routed under the architrave.

It is a difficult problem. I think that the way to go is with double locking deadlock, so that even if someone breaks in they cannot get your plasma screen out the front door because it cannot be opened from the inside, but the Fire Brigade do not recommend them because of safety issues.

I am assuming that you have been told how to get the broken key out by now. If you are going to get a new cylinder then measure carefully and get one that is the correct length so that it is as flush as possible, they dont like Stilsons or Molegrips either!
