Natwest Bank Charge Mess up!

Over the past 12 Months Natwest have charged me over £1000 in charges for "unpaid Direct Debits". Bearing in mind no Direct Debit i'd set up was in excess of £10, it seemed a little excessive at the time, but when you're earning you tend to pay it out of pure ignorance!
I've now been made unemployed, and as such cancelled all my direct debits, only to find Natwest were setting them back up, and then charging me again...forcing me to act and send in a letter to reclaim all the charges since August 2007.
I sent the letter in a week ago, and yesterday recieved a letter from Triton Credit Services giving me a notice of debt collection!
I've just been online to check my bank account (which Natwest have put £437.93 in charges since May, for a £11.00 unpaid DD, leaving me £437.93 overdrawn) and have now found they've deleted my account, leaving me only with my 18 month old daughters savings account on file.
Basically I want to know what I should do next?!
Should I detail another letter to Natwest, or should I go through Triton?
Bearing in mind I sent the reclaim letter last week, and gave them 2 weeks to respond positively...I don't think this would warrant a positive response!!
Any help from people who've dealt with Triton and Natwest would be greatly appreciated!

Sorry to hear about what has happened to you.
I'm not surprised by anything Natwest does anymore. My advice would be to do everything directly with Natwest.
I too had my account passed on to them, but I have always dealt with Natwest directly and if they have only just passed the account over they can very well get the information back to deal with this issue- I may be wrong but I am pretty sure it's better to deal with the bank directly.
Best of luck with your claim.

Triton are in house debt collectors for RBS Group of which NatWest is a part. When you say that the direct debits were cancelled and re set up can you clarify that you informed the companies you cancelled them as well?Over the past 12 Months Natwest have charged me over £1000 in charges for "unpaid Direct Debits". Were any of them to NatWest themselves?
You could send a letter to Triton telling them the debt is in dispute and you will not do anything with them.0
