Hi,
I own a Citroen Saxo Furio which has a built in cd player. I would like to connect my Ipod to it.
How do i do it? Is it going to be expensive? What do i need?
I know nothing about this at all.
Thanks. Carrie.

or ...... a really low tech solution if you have a cassette slot:

Argos sell a gadget that wires into your car aerial, so you can tune the radio into a spare FM frequency.
http://www.argos.co.uk/static/Product/partNumber/5000043.htm
There are also FM transmitters like this one http://shop.ipodworld.co.uk/iPodWorldSite/product/iPod_iPod_FM%20Transmitters/AU02/FM_Transmitter_for_iPod_Nano_iPod_Shuffle_and_video_iPod.htm
But they are illegal to operate in the UK.That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
Carrie, I looked into this for my ipod, and came up with the following options:-
- Tape adapter, low tech, cheap (as low as £5) fairly low sound quality, easy to setup / use. (NB, Griffin do a SMART version which detects if your tape player REW or FF and skips your ipod appropriately & pauses your ipod when you switch away from the tape player. Sounds GREAT, tried it and it was TERRIBLE, the quality of the sound was near unlistenable to, significantly worse than the 15 year old one I bought for a discman with my first car!)
- Griffin I trip (or similar), broadcasts your ipods music, so you can "tune in" to your ipod on a radio, not too expensive (£15), technically illegal in the UK (it makes you a pirate radio station). Reports on the sound quality are mixed. most say ok, some say terrible and can clash with existing stations to ruin both...
- FM modulator (the argos one). Similar to an itrip in that it uses your radio, but instead of broadcasting it, it uses a wire to pipe it directly into your radio's aerial socket. Generally accepted as better quality than an itrip (stronger signal) but can still clash with existing stations. More expensive, maplins do one for £30ish, but then there's fitting (free if your a dab hand, £20 or so (guesstimate) at halfords or summit. Probably includes a docking station to recharge your ipod at the same time
- Aux-in The best solution. If your radio has a port for a CD changer or an aux in port you can buy a convertor to take advantage of this. The sound quality should be the same as with a cd changer, so good, it should also recharge and completely control your ipod from existing controls (including steering wheel stalks) as its fooling your stereo that your ipods a cd changer... Cost, the cheapest I was quoted was £90 + fitting so call it £110.
My solution? As I'd just forked out £150 for the ipod I decided to use my tape adapter for the short term. It's working Ok, but could be better. I'll probably save up for the all singing all dancing version eventually...
Hope this helps
