I would like to know this too. At the moment I download the songs to a rw disc and then use a program to convert the files to mp3 and then put them on the mp3 player. It takes ages as the song titles are lost.
There must be an easier way

I copied/pasted the following from another website:
There are 2 ways:
Method 1: Burn the track(s) to a CD, then you can open the CD in iTunes and the Convert Selection to MP3 will do exactly what you want. Just be aware that you'll have TWO copies of that song in iTunes -- one in the original AAC format and one in MP3 format. You can delete the AAC version if you like. (Note that you must burn an audio CD, not a data CD. Check the setting in Edit > Preferences > Advanced > Burning if you have a problem importing tracks from the CD.)
Method 2: If you have lots of music, you might need a big pile of CDs to convert everything with the "burn and rip" method above. That's where software can help. A "virtual CD drive" such as NoteBurner or CD Emulator can simulate a real CD burner, eliminating the need for real CD-R discs. The Windows operating system will treat the virtual drive just like a real one, so you can tell your CD burning to access the virtual drive by it's own drive letter.Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0 -
Can't Sony players play AAC files? If so, you'll be able to directly play songs purchased form iTunes.
If not, you can just change your import preferences in iTunes to mp3. Then when you right-click on a track in your library, you'll get the option "create mp3 version". There's no need to burn them to a CD. That was only necessary when songs from iTunes had DRM copy protection.
Then it's just a question of dragging tracks from iTunes to your Sony player.0 -
Sonys do indeed play aac files - one of the few brands that works ok with i-tunes.I shot a vein in my neck and coughed up a Quaalude.

As above, my Sony mp3 will play unprotected AAC files from itunes. If you have any old files that are protected you can re-download them for free from itunes.
If your Sony uses Sonicstage software then drag the files from the itunes folder onto the sonicstage playlist, then transfer them to the mp3 player. If using the newer Sony players from the last 2 years then just drag them straight onto the device.
There will be a quality loss if you do the complicated method described above; it's also completely unnecessary.0
