Hi I have unearthed an Amstrad pcw8256 with lots of discs, books and manuals. Has it any value or should I send it to be recycled?

TIA

Try eBaying it. I used one of these in 1990. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Amstrad_PCW

An Amstrad CPC464 (my second computer ever btw) recently sold on eBay with a monitor and 75 games for the grand old price of £0.99. Another one sold with 35 games for £24. Another Amstrad, a CPC6128, sold for £5.50 with a couple of games and a monitor.

It's one of those things that's only worth what someone is willing to pay for it, which probably isn't much. It couldn't hurt to put it on eBay and see what you get though.

Does it still work? I found that the 3" diskette drives failed after a few years of use...

I have turned it on but can't seem to load the discs. To be honest I am not interested enough to read the manual.

I may as well stick it on Ebay to see what happens. I would rather it went to someone for a few pence then ending up in landfill.

    Thanks for your replies

Perhaps you could offer it on freecycle.

    Ohh!!! that takes me back!
That was my first "Word Processor" computer. I remember playing Hitchhikers guide to the galaxy on it all in green screen :)

It's useless without a working floppy drive since it has no on board storage everything runs from the floppy drive.

it might be useful for the odd spare part....

You could always send it to Mr Sugar at the House of Lords.
