Natwest step account online Credit check

hello guys,

Yesterday I applied for a natwest step account online and it said i had been prov accepted and the paperwork will come through in a few days..good/

Today I cheched my equfax report and it showed a search for natwest as the following

Natwest - Internet -Sls & Accnt - searched yesterday

and on other searches it says Identity Check to comply with Anti Money Laundering Regulations - I-cd Publishing-rbs Risk Guardian- searched today.

just wanted to check is this normal when applying for account online? has anyone had this and been accepted?

    I think the second second search may have something to do with the o2 money card that i applied for earlier today they are now available but natwest issue the prepaid cards and when i applied they gave me the 10k load limit becuase they could verify me rather than the 1800 a year one

    This is perfectly normal and nothing to worry about, they have to carry out certain fraud and anti money laundering checks along with address and ID verification. Most people will be on the electoral register and will be able to be verified electronically, if the bank struggles to definately match you on this they will require ID and Address Verification from you. In other words, they have to make sure that you are who you say you are.

    Others that have also applied recently...... I got the same checks as you but didnt bother with anything, got paperwork, seen that it was a step account and binned it. I got mainstream accounts so thought sod that!

    was the paperwork you got was just to sign and send back? thanks for the link by the way

    Yes but on the application it said 'application for a step account' so I immediately binned it being I already have 2 full accounts with o/d's! Kinda insulting if you ask me :rotfl::rotfl:

    arghhh hate barclays but then again they are better than lloyds so up to you!

    Just went for the A&L account as they seem quite flexible but I got referred whilst someone else got accepted - see last page of sub prime thread :mad:

    Me and banks just do not get on! I wonder why! maybe they know that NiD is really me! :confused: :rotfl::rotfl:

    well i dont get on with cc's but getting there i wants a few accounts though you cant hve to many hey?
