BT bills...Check thoroughly....

Warning..

For those with BT.

I am currently on the unlimited weekend and evening 12 month plan. This costs nothing and has several financial advantages. All they want from you is to sign up for 12 months.

So far so good.Towards the end of the 12 months you will receive a letter asking if you wish to renew. If you do wish to renew the letter states "do nothing, just sit back and relax".
So as i was happy i just "sat back and relaxed":j

I have recently had my quarterly bill and the rental charge seemed expensive so i rang BT and queried it,
They have been charging me for this plan(£2.95 pm currently) because i was told that i had cancelled it,which i hadnt of course:mad:

"why would i cancel this free service?" i asked
"well people do" came the response
"but i have not cancelled.I have not even rung Bt recently"

The man,who was helpul, stated that it was probably done "robotically" (whatever that means). He apologised and refunded me £8.85.

MORAL: Check and check again. If you think that by doing nothing your plan will automatically renew Think again:beer:

HELP!!! Has anybody got a phone number for BT that does not put you in a loop of ' press1, press 3, press 2' etc. until they eventually cut you off. I have the same problem as OP and can't speak to a 'live' person about it'

It may be easier/quicker to use this email route. I've has some success with that.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

I have found BT to be a joke ,let me explain .
MY aunt was on the light user scheme ,this was then replaced by BT basic .I phone BT to get the DD payments set up .The first bill was for £74 .I phoned BT and moved my aunts account on to the anytime package ,BT still insist on quarterly DD payments for this package because they have not spoken to my aunt .They didnt speak to my aunt when I set up the original DD or when the anytime package was set up ,but they want to speak to her to change the payment plan to monthly .The bank account used for the DD has my name on it but I cant change the payment to monthly .
