  • Morning Taxi,

DH has COPD and was smoking a lot at one stage however since quitting he hardly uses his inhalers now and his breathing has rapily improved. He doesn't believe that he does have COPD he just put it down to his smoking.

Keep going you are doing really well. xx

Well, I'm glad its moving in the right direction, Taxi. Did the doctor say there was any scarring on your lungs from the smoking? An awful lot of smoking damage can be recovered from, so here's hoping. Exercise - fast walking when you go our for your dog walks - would help too, improving blood flow and all that, which is so important to the lungs.

    Thanks you two.
Dr said it will improve as it's not COPD as they thought it was originally. It has already improved since december but my lung age is 68!!!..she has said it's uncontrolled Asthma..so I have to take a double dose of inhaler twice a day for 3 months followed by normal dose for the following three months and then have the tset done in 6 months again...
I'm sure it will improve by then as I'll have lost a load of weight by then and will be doing more exercise.
Funny enough I decided to walk faster with the dog tonight and kncked 8 mins off the usual walk..so that was an improvement and I wasn't anymore out of breath..it is getting a bit better.
Will be interesting to see what my lung age is in 6 months..lol...

That's good..it probably was his smoking...Dr said COPD doesn't improve.
  • Well done on your progress Taxi - it will be really worth it and as you say in 6 months time it will be interesting to see what the tests say.

Congrats on reducing your walk time by 8 mins

8 minutes is a big chunk of time to knock off in one go! That sounds like you're well on the way, nice one. Wouldn't it be lovely to have the fitness level of a 21 year old, sigh ..........
