Think you should start a countdown, you said was it £1500 you needed
£0/£1500 -that way keep the mini incentive up! xxx rip dad... we had our ups and downs but we’re always be family xx0 -
Thanks everyone for the positive thoughts...
When you put it like that Milann it does look like a lot..lol
Karma..I must admit it looked rather nice yesterday driving through the dunes etc ..very golden but dropped passengers got out of car had cig and stretched legs for 5 mins and then back to Blackpool to carry on working...(they used to have lovely shops there last time I went)
Mum2one..it'll be hard to do a countdown as £1500 is roughly what I need for the normal bills but on top of that I need money for my subs cheques and fuel/...so don't know what I need and bits of food on top...So know only each day as it ends ..what is still needed.
I need a tank of fuel today as we are nearly empty so that's at least £50.No shopping today but will need bread tomorrow.
I guess this is us living within our means as we are not using the Amex card am waiting until its anniversary date so I can claim my cashback and then cancelling it.
Have a good day all..am off to work in a minute.xxx0 -
Have a good day....
Part of our "shift" over the last couple of years was to stop using credit cards if we couldn't pay the total off each month. Then we used them for every day shopping, but paid them off on payday......then realised that we really needed to be able to get through the month without using the credit cards at all, if we were really to be "living within our means".
That was quite a tough shift, but we did it, and I no longer need my credit card or my overdraft for day to day living. What it does mean, too, is that I only pay extra off my debt, on the day before payday so I can see what is left. Even if it is only £10, I know that it is £10 that I can afford, rather than £100 I have paid off too early and might then have to borrow back or panic.
Initially, it went against the grain - after all, I want to pay debt off NOW not wait to the end of the month.....but it is actually working really well.

Ooh, Taxi, that sounds like it could be for you.
I'm seeing you posting at horrible times this morning, and your light's off now, hope you're catching up on sleep - and I'm glad you took even a little breather in such a lovely atmosphere.2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Hi all Karma..I was posting at that time as I was going to work at 6am!!!!...am just home now...
Hypno ...I agree with you.The only credit card I used was a cashback card for fuel, shopping etc..always paid off in full...this wasn't letting me see the full picture. The problem this month was all the extras as described plus paying the card in full AND using my debit card all month to pay for stuff as had decided not to use the CC.whereas before it was always paying a month behind.
I totally understand where you are coming from regarding waiting until the day before you are paid. That's great with a salary but with us we get money everyday and stuff goes out on so many days of the month.
I banked £485 today ..that was what we earnt on sat and sun.
I wish I could work out to the penny the exact total we need.
We are left with £826.70 at the moment.
There is subs and fuel today to come off..leaving...£617.91.
The next lot of bills due are 26th and 27th and total...£321.60
So this leaves us..£296.31 towards the bills starting 29th to the 2nd.
The total for those bills is £1254.76-£296.31 =£958.45
on top of that we'll need £152.75 (subs) and any diesel and food.
That's it all worked out.0 -
Need to update my sig as £186.01 and £322.31 loan came out today. So this will bring me to over £13k now.0

Taxi, is there any chance that you could change the days of some of the payments you need to make, so that you've got fewer days when things are coming out? An awful lot of my stuff comes out on the 15th now, and it *does* make it easier.
And some of your bills must be regular or expected, surely? I don't know what subs are (to do with the taxi, I'm expecting) ... dunno, it just seems that you really suffer with it, and I'd love for your life to be a bit easier :kisses3:2023: the year I get to buy a car0 -

Hi KC,
All the household bills are last day and first day of the month. The loans are 20th,22nd and 27th of the month...don't know whether loan dates can be changed but won't matter anyway as both Halifax ones will be paid off in October.
CC machine for the business is 15th month and is a fixed date everyone pays on that date.
NI ..varies on dates every month usually about the 12th
Insurances and car tax are all paid yearly in one lump sum and accountant.
Subs are the money paid weekly for the work from the firm we have to pay by cheque and is hard to keep on top of as they are paid sunday and come out of my account anytime from thursday onwards ..sometimes aslate as 2 weeks later. It's a case of remembering whether they've gone or not.
Life insurance is 22nd...
CCS are various dates in the month.
I don't usually suffer with them and I know exactly how much normal bills are .
The things I never know is how much I'm going to earn or how much diesel is going to cost..this is why I can't do a budget as such.
Everything will be perfectly fine after the 1st April ....I'm absolutely sure of that.0
