How can I post a table copied from Excel into a forum without losing all the spacing?
For Example the list below which was in neat columns in excel
Col 1 Col 2 Col 3
Dogs 1 Blue
Cats 10 Green
Hippos 4 yellow
Kangaroos 1 Varied

I don't think you can, or at least it'll depend upon the forum. You'd need to use html or css, which most forums will filter out (decode) when saving/outputting due to script attacks.
You could take a screenshot and paste an image of the table.
Other than that you just have to use spaces."Boonowa tweepi, ha, ha."0 -
Thanks
It was in one of the MSE forums, I tried spacing out but the preview appeared to take them back out.

You could always use a character like a full stop . to space them apart and change the colour of the full stops to the same colour as the background.
e.g.
without colour change: hope......this......helps
with colour change: hope......this......helps
code used:
hope......this......helps
0 -
You can't post tables in vbulletin forums.
I have seen some forums that have codes but I've never ever seen them used. I think they must be very hard to use.
On MSE people usually just make a screenshot of a table in excel and post the screenshot/deb/debt
e.g.
This is actually an image of a table0 -
It would be good if there could just be a tag but only user's who understand the basics of HTML tables would be able to use it probably so it would cause a lot of unnecessary questions. Hmm, perhaps not then!

sra, I've never been able to work out how to take a screen shot like the one you posted because, from all I can see, you would have to take individual images and join them together into 1 long image like you mentioned.sra wrote:This is actually an image of a table0 -
tigermatt, some screen capture tools can capture a scrolling window, automatically scrolling the window.0

I used to have one. But it wasn't freeware - came with another program.
I'd probably just patch them together because I'm so used to capturing screenshots by now I could do it really quickly.
I'm sure I have a program somewhere that isn't really a capture program but can do this as an extra but I'd have to look for it0 -
Yes, SnagIt can do it. Not free, though you can try it for 30 days.0
