Selling an Ex-Council Property back to the Council?

Hi, just wondering if anyone knows whether you can sell an ex-council house back to the council? We bought our property 3 years ago, and the person we bought it from had originally purchased it in 1985 under the council rtb scheme, we would like to move, and as the housing market is a little unsteady at the moment, I was just wondering if this could be an option?

In some areas the local authority's are buying houses in order to increase the number of council houses available. Your best bet is to contact the local council housing dept/company and ask.I no longer work in Council Tax Recovery but instead work as a specialist Council Tax paralegal assisting landlords and Council Tax payers with council tax disputes and valuation tribunals. My views are my own reading of the law and you should always check with the local authority in question.0

I think there are very few councils who will do this and if this webpage is anything to go by, those that do have a lot of strict conditions which it looks like you don't meet.
