Extension 'shell' nearly complete, but we want to make a change...

Basically, a kitchen extension is nearly completed - space for the window and a garden door has been left - but having looked at it - we have got it wrong!

Ideally, we need to have the garden door leading from a different wall.

So the following steps need to be taken.

1) Simply block off the door space - just need a handful of blocks - so nothing major.

2) The wall that we want the new door to be fitted in, wasnt part of the 'new' extension - its would be on an existing wall, that wasnt built by them.

I'll try to take some photos and post later

Remember, its only a shell at the moment - its smallish job relatively speaking, but I can see the builders being a bit peed off!

My question is - what would be a reasonable charge to break a 'door space' in a wall?

A fair estimate?

This is the window & door space - we want the door blocked up moved.

The new door will ideally be moved a bit futher up to this wall (which leads from the 'new door' gap..)

(The bit of wall protruding - with the spade resting next to it & light switch) is also going to be removed as is the ceiling & roof above it - so it will be a complete wall....and complete the new shell

You would be going against your planning permission, so you may need a variation.

Cost about £500 to cut in a new doorway.

Hi - we have 2 letters to say that planning permission is NOT required for this extension.

One letter was for the present design that we now want / the 2nd for the 'new' design which we no longer want to go for.

    THanks for the estimate.

Spoke to the builders - told us not to worry. Will just charge us for the extra blocks & a bit on top!

    £100!!!
