RBS Royalties Gold

I'm looking to save money, spend less, as I am now only working part-time. So I am looking at my out goings. I have just realised that I am paying £12.95 a month for something I can get free... a bank account.
I know there are many threads on here about package account sand if they are worth it but this is different I feel I have been mis-sold my account and recieved bad coustmer service.
I feel ripped off because the only difference I can see in this account is it says "Royalities Gold" on my bank statement and cheque book.
I don't know how to claim any of the benfits, as I haven't recieved a welcome pack/ guide book, Royalties Membership Card, Royalties Membership Number, A password to the website.
I was prusaded to have this account by the bank because I was told If I change my saving account to the Royalties Saver I would get a higher intrest rate. I was told I would get a bonus of a even higher rate of intrest for the first six month. I was also told that I had that much money in my account that the account would pay for itself off the intrest earned for the first six months. I have been unable to check this as I have been unable find any info on what the intrest rates on my account is.
I upgraded my account a few months ago then got busy and then total forgot about it until now.
The other benfits that I am miss out on I'm not sure how good of an offer they are to. I have breakdown cover with my car insurance cheap. I have never even consider mobile phone insurance until now. I don't know what discounts I can get on entertainment and eating out. What attractrions and restruants can I get a discount on? Anyone know?
So I'm thinking about downgrading my account.
But I'm also thinking about leaving RBS but scared about transfering my account. Will direct debits transfer? And the adminstration at work is bad what if they pay my wages in my old account instead of the new one?
Also I'm presuming to get the best rates on my saving I probably will a have to have a savings account and current account with sperate banks. But I like the fact I can transfer funds between instantly when they are with the same bank. You know what I mean?
Anyone got any advice or suggestions?
Thank You

If you go to rbsroyalties .com and type the password "gold" this will show you all the benefits. Some of them you will phone up about to get more details.
Your membership number is "RB" followed by your sortcode and then your account number.
The membership card is nothing, as you have to write your own membership number on it!0 -
With Royalties Gold you get Green Flag Roadside Assistance so if you have a car, the monthly fee probably pays for that. There's also Travel Insurance.
I have RG and have toyed with the idea of downgrading to a fee-free account, but changed my mind due to the Green Flag cover.Warning ..... I'm a peri-menopausal axe-wielding maniac0 -

You can also check the cost of an annual Green Flag policy on their website.
Green Flag are also on cashback sites, such as Quidco.
I don't find these accounts to be worthwhile - but everyone is different. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I have break down cover that comes with my car insurance and costs a lot less than £155.40 a year. I also got cashback when buying my insurance.
I don't travel aboard.0 -
If you opened a Royalties Saver account it may well have been worth it despite not using the other benefits. The 2% bonus on offer until February will have ended now though and will be applied either next year or on closure if closed before.
Clearly to see the benefit you need to now downgrade if not using any other benefits.0 -
Sorry for the being slightly off topic but does anyone know thepassword for student royalties? I'm sure it was sent to me but I cant remember what it was.
Thanks0 -

I have been an RBS royalties gold customer for some time and I think it's worth every penny (and no, I'm not an RBS employee!0
I save about £20 every time I book a hotel with them
I have had a plumber out several times - all covered (up to £500)
I have free mobile phone insurance for me and my wife
free travel insurance
money off tickets to shows
2 years extra warantee (so 3 incl man 1 yr warrantee if you use their CC/switch to pay for the product)
oh - and I had home recovery for my car - battery flat...
need I go on?0 -

Not free of course but part of what you pay for.
The key is to use the benefits. If you can and do then it didn't get a 5* Defaqto rating for nothing.0
