New Driveway - ballpark cost and hints & tips. Thanks

I'm thinking of having my exisiting driveway and path re-done and so would be interested to hear from anyone who has had it done recently (or is in the trade) for hints/tips.

The path is currently laid in concrete but is cracked fully across its width in numerous places which (hopefully, if it is necessary) would assist with removal. It is about 10 m x 1m.

There is also a separate adjacent one car driveway/parking space (6 m x 3m?). This is currently just paving flags not mortarted in so these could be easily taken up.

In an ideal world I would like it done in cobblestone/granite sett. The alternative would be pattern imprinted concrete. Open to other suggestions.

Anyone help with a ball park price?

As an alternative, there is a chance I could get a relative (who is v good at DIY, i.e. built his own extension) to do it who I know did the block paving at his own house. So I can weigh up what the cost saving would be by paying him (as a job to do in his weekends / in a holiday period) how many days do you think it would take him?

Thanks.

PS. Have got one quote so far: "assuming there is no drainage requirements required to meet the planning consent (SUDS) ? and no man hole/inspection chambers to accommodate a ball park cost to cover dig of waste removal laying with a 100mm x100mm x 50mm new granite (PI5) and grouting with cobble fix price guide £3220 to £3475."

Thought I'd post the quotes I have received (from email enquiries only) so far as it may prompt more comments or be of use to anyone who looks at this thread in future:

For cobble stones: "assuming there is no drainage requirements required to meet the planning consent (SUDS) ? and no man hole/inspection chambers to accommodate a ball park cost to cover dig of waste removal laying with a 100mm x100mm x 50mm new granite (PI5) and grouting with cobble fix price guide £3220 to £3475."

For block paving: " depending on what paving you want to use for your path and Driveway Reflects on the price, also ground work costs can vary and only when a site survey has been carried out can we we give an accurate quotation. Lets presume you use Marshalls drive line 50 Block paving, then the cost will start from about £50 per metre this product is about the cheapest that is suitable for driveways."

For pattern imprinted concrete -company 1: "The ball park figure is £50 a square meter so for 28 square meters would be £1400."

For pattern imprinted concrete -company 2: "The price for the area you gave us 28sqm would be £2600.00+vat. This would be for any colour any pattern. This price will include excavation of the area the laying of the sub-base which is compacted before the pour of fibre-reinforced ready mixed concrete, colour hardeners to your choice are trowelled into the surface of the concrete prior to imprinting your specified pattern. When the surface been pressure washed it is then sealed in order to protect and enhance the completed installation."
