Wireless phone extender for home office - what to buy?

We are having flooring done and will lose the old under the carpet route for the phone line in home office/fax machine (yes we still need to keep one real fax machine). Any other wire routing is going to be very messy so I am considering a wireless solution. I know about the One for All mains plug phone extender and the very similar RTX one, each around £40 and might try one just to see if it succeeds.
Cons appear to be
- They are actually DECT devices using 2.4 GHz so do they clutter up one's WiFi bandwidth even more?
- May clash with an existing DECT phone we have, or degrade it's performance?
- Don't work with cable phones (eg Virgin Media), only BT. This matters are we are just considering migrating from BT.
Are there any other brands/technologies out there and does anyone have experience of the above issues?
Cheers!
