I can use excel but really am not a big fan of it.
Can anyone recommend software for personal finance I can download for free?
Have found quite a few but would be good if someone with experience of one could recommend one? There used to be a street named after Chuck Norris, but it was changed because nobody crosses Chuck Norris and lives.0 -
I went BR in Sept 07. I bank with the coop and although they may not advertise it, I certainly knew all about it when I'd hit my three strikes. They wrote to say they were closing my account - no discussion and gave me a date when it would happen. I called to say that it was my only bank account, I needed it etc. and they gave me the biggest lecture going. They cancelled all my SO's and DD's despite me saying I was actually saving money by having them set up, and said that I would have to make other arrangements for three months. They advised I only used cash for purchases so as not to get caught out with the electron card.
It was an absolute pain in the bum, but their account does seem to be the best out of all of them, and I'm still happy with them! Just be careful...0 -

i also try to use cash for basically everything these days too.
I did also try and cancel all my direct debits with other companies but was outraged when i found that it would cost me another £3.50 or what ever to do so. problem is that these build up if youve got a few.
i did wrestle with the fact that I only had 3 strikes and one of them was gone with a DD that id forgotten about and had come out the day before i had money going in.
decided on the buffer and cash stash method.
basically the card only gets used to withdraw cash and stash it in the house for when i need it for something.
the card only gets used to pay utility bills, and always make sure I have 50 quid plus on it.
pain in the butt sometimes but it seems to be working.
there are some companies i have found let you pay your bills manually even though youve got the direct debit set up. Carphone warehouse let me do this for example and so do my water supplier.
this way i can pay the bills when i want to (as long as its in advance of the DD date) and not get charged the extra for it.AD - 23/04/2010
