Orange home phone line rental and internet help.

Im moving into a newly built apartment that doesn't have any land line provider (i.e BT), however i have a orange pay monthly contract so will be using orange broadband as its cheaper i would like to take the option that includes orange line rental as well as the internet. Any way of getting it without having to sign up for a BT line and switching it? As Orange keep asking for my apartments phone number to allow me the broadband and line rental.

Orange, like all the 'line providers' now in the market, can employ Openreach to do the necessary engineering work to provide the new line at your new build property.

Indeed, if they want your business, they most certainly should do so and be willing to match BT's current offer of free connection subject to you agreeing to an 18 month contract for line rental and to making 10 or more chargeable OR inclusive calls per month for each of those 18 months.

I'm sure everyone on here would be very interested to hear what response you get from them when you ask them to do so (my money's on a reply similar to that dog on the Churchill insurance advert, "Oh, no, no, no. Only BT can do that.").
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.
