Bought 2nd Hand Car - Problems!!

Most dealers will give about 1-3 months warranty regardless. I guess this was an additional warranty that you didn't bother with, which is fine - not sure that they would pay out for a visor anyway. Try your local breakers.hueygeorge wrote: »Decided against taking the warranty out!! Oh !!!!!!.......!Genie

So, if it fails the MOT on something major, don't I have any Statutory rights thing with the dealer?? Obviously if it failed on a light bulb or something small I wouldn't be too bothered, but what if it was something more serious?? More pennies for me to shell out!! x
It sounds a lot like someone has given you a lot of (not necessarily good) advice after you bought the car instead of before.
Its not a matter of its your right to 'insist' the car has a full years MOT, merely that the dealer will roll that in to the deal if thats what you want. For instance there is a red GTI Golf i am looking at at the moment, and i could 'insist' the dealer sprays it black for me with pink spots. No doubt the dealer will do this but will build the cost of it into the overall negotiated price.
Why are you going to MOT a car now that is road legal for another three months? Sounds like nothing other than hoping for it to fail so that you can cause confrontation with the dealer?
As for the dealer being 'deceiptful' by not telling you it had a 'faulty sun visor', i would respectfully suggest the dealer knew nothing about it - nor does he know the finest details about the 50 or so cars on his forecourt. I'm sure its an easy fix.
Maybe you should focus on enjoying your new purchase rather than trying to find reason to cause confrontation?0
