I have been given a Bush TV/VCR combi and want to attach a freeview box as I did with my last combi. However, my scart lead will not fit into the socket at the back of the Bush. Are scart leads different sizes? The instructions say is needs 21 scart!

Hi,
might be a twisted pin in the scart lead, or a blocked 'hole' in the scart socket, have you tried turning the cable around?0 -
Scart leads are all the same size.
As suggested, check for bent pins.0 -
Many thanks for your replies. I don't know whether the pins are bent as I haven't got that far. In actual fact the outer casing of the scart lead seemingly will not fit into the socket on the TV set. Believe me I have tried. The same scart lead fits on my Philips combi so it is a mystery to me.0

With some scarts, you find that once they have been pushed in & out over time (or some of the cheaper ones) they get loose, and need a bit of tightning - they become unaligned.
And if some of the pins are bent, then you will find it difficult to use.
I bought a 21 Pin Scart Lead from Poundland yesterday for my VCR - perfect.0 -
Are you trying to insert it the wrong way round?0
-
No, I have used many scart leads before but this is the first difficulty I have encountered.0

Hi,
maybe the scart plug has become misaligned, it is probably in two parts, and you should be able to unscrew the end and line it up again.

Hi, Frugalmacdugal - you are a star, this worked. Well I took the casing from the back of the TV and the scart lead works like a dream. I assume that I am doing no harm as most of my other equipment doesn't have a shield on. So I now have a fully functioning TV/VCR with freeview once again.0
