How do i stop online account?

I'm with BT and have changed to a direct debit payment scheme as my hubby has left and i didn't want quartly bills appearing.

But when my hubby was here, he paid it online and got a bill every month online.

How can I make it so my ex now cant access the online account? I've called BT but the poor chap on the other end had no idea what i was talking about so couldn't help. any ideas?

thanks :)

    Change the password!

Then change the email address to which the bills are sent.
Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

whos name is the account in ?

If yours you can get your password changed so he cannto access it , if in his name you would have to get bt to chancge account into our name then set up online access.

  • The account is in his name but is paid from my account.

I've called them again, the only way i can get him off my account is to get a new line, which means changing my number which is a pain and an expense.

I shall now look at different providors, if i have to be messed about i may as well get the best deal.

    thanks for your replies.

Do you have online access to what is, as you pay it, your account? i.e. Do you know the Username and Password he used to use to view the online bill/account?

If you do, I'd change the Password, Username and email address and just carry on paying as you already were.

Just have the account transferred to your name, as he has left. You don't need a new line or number.

    Contact BT.
Tell your telephone number and request them to record the call.
Then ask them to change the email id to yours one and choose a password like- password1- or anything simple. Then log in and change details as you like.
Or tell them that you have lost/closed online email account and if they would let to swap for a new e-mail.
If they can't do it, tell them that you are moving away from BT.
Go to Virgin and return after sometime.

    Hi bunnyboiler1,

If the telephone line is in your ex husbands name we would not be able to remove the online billing account without his request. You could register a new online profile for online billing via https://www.bt.com/youraccount however this will not prevent your ex husband from viewing his online profile and seeing the bills.

What we could do is place a new order to take over the current line and put it in your name. Once the order went through we may have to place an order to keep the old phone number. We would not be able to guarantee that you will get your old number however we will try my best to get the number for you.

If you would like my help in placing this order in your name please PM me your details and I will arrange this for you.

    Thanks

    Hi bunnyboiler1,

I can confirm if the line is still active with BT we would place a take over order. This would mean that we take over the current line in the property and change it into your name. With a take over order there would not be a charge to start the line as the line is already active in the property with BT.

    I hope this helps.
