Harveys Cleo Sofa

My son purchased a Cleo sofa from Harveys Nov 06, and now the sewn seam (at the top of the backrest part of the sofa) has torn/split right at the sewn seam. Now he lives on his own , as it is a corner unit he always sits on the same part of the sofa, hence rest of sofa has next to no wear. However, surely this sewn seam should not split after 2.5 years. If anybody can advise their thoughts, advice actions I would greatly appreciate it. Thanks

he needs to contact harveys and tell them about it , my argos sofa is 4 years old and being replaced because I prooved poor manufacturing quality. See what they say most manufacturers will ask you to get a independant report ( local upholsters should do these for about 30 quid with photos) .

First stop is contact harveys ..But the onus of proof is now on your son due to the age of the sofa.

Thanks. We've now received the claim form from them and it asks amongst other questions - when was the fault first noticed. Well, it was probably noticed 3 months ago, but we've only just got round to contacting them. Will this be detrimental to our claim - does anyone know please?

I bought the same sofa, around the same time, & I'm not ecstatic about the state of mine either. :-( Sorry, I know it's not much help, but I wouldn't be surprised if they have had other complaints, so that may work in your favour.

Sorry, on reflection must have been delivered Dec '05, not '06.....just realised it's longer since I graduated than I realised...... :-(
