Kitchen floor tiling patterns/sizes

Nearly at the stage where i am ready to get tiles. Looked in a few places and choices are mostly 300x300 or 450x450. The kitchen is quite narrow about 8 ft wide one end and about 8.5ft the other but is about 25ft long. Units are only going down one side due to the width. What size would look good? Also is there any software or sites that can make patterns? Will diagonals make the room look wider?

my kitchen is similar size/shape to yours. ive used the smaller size tiles.
i considered using a diagonal pattern but gave up on the grounds that its too complicated. lots of cutting, and lots of waste material.
    Get some gorm.

I agree. I find diagonal cuts very tricky to do. You'd need to get an electric cutter for them rather than a basic score and snap one.

I have a long narrow kitchen. I bought large tiles, 600x400, and these were laid widthwise in a staggered, brickbond pattern. They look great.

I did think the brickbond pattern might look good. Is your kitchen as narrow as mine???

It is a personal choice. Good tile shops will have displays. I would suggest you try to lay out some tiles to give you a visualisation of what your will look like.

    I have large tiles staggered.

If you DIY, I would recommend getting an electric cutter. They are quite cheap @ Screwfix Direct. I sold mine for nearly as much when I was finished.

My kitchen is about 7.5' wide & 15' long. As you can see straight through to the end from the front door I really wanted it to appear wider & not add to the length. The large format tiles seem to do this.
