Hi All,
I went to the car dealership today, spotted a car I liked.
Is there any way to find out if the car has been in an accident. The dealer said no, but I want to double check.
Thanks.

Get it HPI checked, this will also show up any outstanding finance agreements etc on the car.0

Can I not check if a car has a hidden history? If its been a writeoff?
I'd expect an honest dealer to tell me I could check that out. He didnt, I wouldnt trust him.0 -

The way I read it the dealer said it has not been in an accident....not that it can't be checked out.0 -

but, WHY? WHY? why on earth wouldn't you trust a car dealership.... ???Reason for edit? Can spell, can't type!0 -
You can only check if it's been a total loss and is registered on MIAFTR. You can't check if it's just been in any old accident (unless you have access to the Claims Underwriting Exchange).
I also read the OP to mean that the salesman said it had not been in an accident (not that it couldn't be checked).0 -

Most reputable dealers will have had a HPI check on their vehicles, ask the dealer if he/she has one.0
