start, all programs, accessories, entertainemnt, volume controll. Check its turned up and that it isnt muted (check box at the bottom)
Still no joy?
are you using a media player or is there no windows sounds. or both.
this could be down to a bad driver, click start, run, and type devmgmt.msc.
there shouldnt be any yellow triangle next to anything, especialy anything to do with sound.0 -

Device manager can lie, it did to me when my sound went. So uninstall your Audio driver reboot and reinstall.0

Are you using Windows Media Player? Try a different player like Winamp and see if that makes any difference.0

Open Control Panel>Sounds and audio devices, then click on the Sounds tab. Under program events, click on any file with a speaker icon next to it. Then underneath in Sounds: the play arrow should not be greyed out. If it is, then it is a driver problem. If you can press play then it's more likely the speakers. Test them by plugging into a mp3 player or something similar. The other cause could be that maybe they are plugged into the wrong socket - the right one is usually green.Try saying "I have under-a-pound in my wallet" and listen to people react!0
