best deal for MS Office?

Hi, having just starting job hunting recently, I was initially pleased that I could download applications from websites. However I only have works or tesco version wp on my pc. I can open the word docs with wordviewer but can't edit.
This is a pain as some sites want me to upload the completed form back to them, so I have to go to the library or something to find a pc with word.
Sooo unless anyone has any bright ideas (that can be explained simply to me!!) I reckon I may just end up buying MS Office to install. Can anyone recommend good deal of where to buy this please?
many thanks :o

    +1 for OpenOffice.
    The word processor package will let you open, edit and save doc files.
    Save your money, there's not many jobs out there just now.

    If you want "the real thing" look for the 3-user Office 2007 Home and Student (Word, Excel, Powerpoint and OneNote), from (say) Amazon* at just under £68. Assorted reductions if you buy other software at the same time.

    * other retailers are available

    Another for OpenOffice, "the real thing" has nothing that openoffice doesn't have for the average user apart from a price in £££s.

    Another nod for open office, it does pretty much everything that ms office can do

    Although it's not what the OP wants to do, I found that 'round tripping' stuff as simple as RTF files between Open Office Writer 3.1 and a Mac caused horrible font corruption (both size and face) that has never happened in several years of using Word 2003 for this purpose.

    So I uninstalled OO 3.1 and put Office 2007 on the laptop...

    YMMV
