Japanese Imports

Hi All,

Whats the benefits of getting 1 of these vehicles which are imported or the disadvantages.

Looking at 1 of these at present: MITSUBISHI DELICA EXCEED SPACE GEAR 2.8TD CRYSTAL LITE. Has anybody had 1 of these vehicles?

Does the insurance cost more etc? Should I leave well alone?

Well we have had many Japanese Imports and the benefits as far as I can see other than the fact that they should be a fair bit cheaper due to the high volume of second hand cars in Japan, is they are normally loaded with the extras that you would pay more for over here ie. air con, p/w, etc but there are one or two downfalls - check the speedo, Japan runs in km's if the speedo is showing mph then the odometer could easily have been tampered with as well. Parts can sometimes take longer to get hold of but due to all the imports there are around, should be ok just a little longer to wait. Insurance shouldnt cost you more unless the insurance comapny work on the system that it has to be a model that they have on thier sheets. Again because there are so many Japanese Imports around you shouldn't have too much of a problem. If you look in the back of your local Auto Trader you may even find a specialist insurance company dealing only in imports and always get a few quotes so that you have a comparison to go by.

A friend of mine has a Delica and loves it. It has incredible levels of equipment, is a hoot to drive and is very very different to look at. However, it is thirsty. Incredibly thirsty. Don't buy one if you are thinking that it is going to be economical because it is a diesel.
