Help-Cant dial out

Can recieve calls but cant dial out on my digital cordless phones i get a dialing tone dial the number but get the msg (YOUR NUMBER HAS NOT BEEN RECOGNISED) but can dial out on a corded phone.

i have had the phone line tested twice
i have had a digital cordless phone for 3 years no problems and have bought a new one and thats the same :confused: it just all happenned overnight

i have tried turning off all mobiles and appliances including sky box and still cant dial out HELP

    Welcome to the MSE forums matt0072.

    From what you describe, there's something wrong with the cordless phone or the cordless phone base station. Try dialling a short number like 17070 and see what happens (you should hear an automated voice telling you your phone number).
    Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.

    i have tried that number and several test numbers and always get the 3 beeps and the msg the number you have dialled has not been recognised.
    i have tried 2 digital cordless phones and both do the same

  • dont know what it is going to test both base units at my friends house tomorrow so will update then its just so strange that 2 differant phones wont let me dial out with one phone being new

    Sorry, should have mentioned the obvious in my first reply. Re-boot the DECT base station. Doing that resolved a problem with mine.

    re-booted both phones and just got back from my mates house and both phones worked straight away i am now completly baffled

    Don't be. It's a computer. Computers get confused and occasionally need the electronic equivalent of a clip round the ear - being deprived of mains power for a few seconds.

    That's worked for me on Sky boxes, one of my DECT base stations and countless Freeview boxes.

  • tried the on off at the mains ive even took the base unit into the garden still cant dial out (got a laugh of the neighbours)
