Welcome to the MSE forums matt0072.
From what you describe, there's something wrong with the cordless phone or the cordless phone base station. Try dialling a short number like 17070 and see what happens (you should hear an automated voice telling you your phone number).Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0 -
thanks for the welcome and reply
i have tried that number and several test numbers and always get the 3 beeps and the msg the number you have dialled has not been recognised.
i have tried 2 digital cordless phones and both do the same0 -
So it is the base station.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

Sorry, should have mentioned the obvious in my first reply. Re-boot the DECT base station. Doing that resolved a problem with mine.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Don't be. It's a computer. Computers get confused and occasionally need the electronic equivalent of a clip round the ear - being deprived of mains power for a few seconds.thanks for the replies

That's worked for me on Sky boxes, one of my DECT base stations and countless Freeview boxes.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market.
