Damage to car
Comments

To be honest when it happened I was more concerned about trying to take the paint off the other car so that the damage would not look as bad, when I was doing this the driver was taking details off my friend. It never occurred to me to offer to pay for the damage myself as I did not consider it to be serious but as it has been pointed out the car would not have been damaged if I had not been there.
I was told that the insurance company ended up paying over £800 for the repair which I think is outrageous and there is no way I could have afforded to pay that kind of money.0 -

You don't pay that, thats what insurance is for, you simply reimburse your mate for the expense you've caused him
I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
Will the grammar and spelling police respect I do make grammatical errors, and have carp spelling, no need to remind me.;)

It is outrageous but thats the cost it seems - I ended up with a £1000 cliam for a few bumps that I couldnt even see when the bumper hit a car. My Vectra decided to roll down a slope without me in it. I never saw the cars touch and I know the handbrake was on so think it was the dodgy handbrake issues Vauxhall wouldnt admit to. Really annoying but thats life.
Please offer to pay your mates excess and something towards the higher premiums he will inevitably face.:jMay 2013 new beginnings:j0 -

As there was only damage done to the third party's car, there will be no excess payment involved in this incident.0 -

:rotfl:Sorry, but had to titter at that one, especially as my Vectra had the best handbrake of any car I have ever owned:rotfl:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.

There was a faulty design for Vectras a few years ago ( something like 05/07 - mine was a hire car on an 56 plate), It was on watch dog and I have read several cases online. How can a car stay stationary for at least 10 mins on a slope then move if I had left the handbrake off?

Good link, never heard that one, and my car was 98 model. It had the opposite problem the handbrake was so viscious it would lock the wheels at 30mph:rotfl:I like the thanks button, but ,please, an I agree button.
