My renewal date for car insurance used to be in mid August. I cancelled my policy in November 2007. I had full NCB. I know that after 2 years you lose your NCB. So when do i lose them? Mid Aug or when the policy was cancelled?

Thanks in advance to those who replied
Problem with having access to internet is that i get asked by many to solve their problems :( Well at least i learn something on the way :D

Its calculated by the date the policy is due for renewal or if the policy was cancelled from the date of cancellation.

Most companies allow upto two years however there are a few companies that will accept it for up to three years, these include NU / Aviva

I thionk you need to ask your own insurer as I understand some companies allow a 5 year period ;)

I can't be specific I'm afraid as this was some time back. We had 2 cars and I decided to let mine go and run a motorbike for a few years. The NCB wasn't transferrable and I didn't want to lose full NCB so I searched around and found a company that would hold my NCB for 5 years, provided I could prove I was driving for those 5 years. I think being a named driver on her indoors's policy counted

Its a shame you can't remember it as I have never heard of more than three years, it could be quite helpful.

It might have been a mistake by whoever you spoke to though
