MSN messenger got visual but No vocal?

Hi
Trying to get my Bruv whos in Germany on MSN messenger. We can see each other but cannot get the sound to work. The microphone and equipment are all working at each end but just dont seem to work together to give us vocal contact

He says he has this problem always between the UK and Germany



Any ideas??

i havent had the same problem, but one similar

i received anew wireless router/modem for chrimbo.

which i installed and got working.

my eldest daughter then complained that she couldnt use msn messenger,

after contacting the router manufacturer support, went through some changes. but couldnt fix it.

that night, i turned my firewall off, as i have to to make any changes to control panel. and retried msn and it worked.

so i uninstalled it (kerio) and loaded a new firewall.... zonealarm... msn works fine with this

i had also emailed msn support, i then received an email from msn support,stating the same, that there is a recognised problem with firewalls and that you have to explictly tell the firewall to let traffic through to msn

as part of the configuration change si had to include some ports to be opened, some are for connection and chat, others are for picture and voice.

What firewall do you have?
