Currently on BT standard.
Very rarely use the home phone, normally just use my mobile as have plenty of mins. If I do will would be local rate calls. Should I stay with BT or move somewhere else?
Thanks

What do you mean by 'BT Standard'-do you mean the Unltd Weekend Plan, the Unltd Anytime Plan?
Do you still need a landline for broadband access? If not then you could just get rid of a landline altogether. No free lunch, and no free laptop

........ and what do you mean by "local rate calls"? There's been no such thing since July 2004 when BT standardised the cost of calls to any/all 01/02 numbers.Time has moved on (much quicker than it used to - or so it seems at my age) and my previous advice on residential telephony has been or is now gradually being overtaken by changes in the retail market. Hence, I have now deleted links to my previous 'pearls of wisdom'. I sincerely hope they helped save some of you money.0

Just checked I'm on Unlimited Weekend Plan
Yes need the landline to receive and for broadband. Yes I mean calls in the nearby local area. Wasn't aware of the change in July 04.

Then you should be paying £11.25 per month with (paperless billing and DD). That is the cheapest BT option available. Line rental from all providers is a similar price, so if you don't use a call package then you're not going to save much on that.
You don't say who your BB provider is. Have you looked at getting a phone and BB bundle from the same provider? TalkTalk offer free local calls 24/7, and UK calls weekend and evenings on the Essentials package, which will cost you £16.47 incl line rental. So in effect that gives you BB for £5.22. However this is only available at this price if your exchange is LLU.
Your main potential saving is on broadband, so I would start by looking at samknows.com to see what ISP's are available LLU on your exchange, they are going to be the cheapest. No free lunch, and no free laptop

If you ever make UK 01/02/03 calls weekdays or weekday evenings, you'd be better off using www.18185.co.uk - 5p per call or any duration.Walter_Sobchak wrote: »Just checked I'm on Unlimited Weekend Plan

Im with adsl24 19.99 per month 30gig peak unlimited off peak download, so Im pretty happy with them. My exchange is not LLU and don't mind paying for a good ISP. Worried if I went for a LLU ISP there would be poor download limit anyway.
Thanks for the info
Cheers will have a look at http://www.18185.co.uk/0
