New Fire Question?

We are in the process of removing our old gas fire with the boiler behind it. We have recently decorated so are looking for ways to minimise the cost and not have to re-wallpaper or get a new carpet.

I realise there is going to be a hole in the wall where the old boiler was but my fire is not in the centre of the wall. I have been looking at fireplaces online, the gas engineer says as long as I get a fire that is not an inset fire it should be ok to be placed in the middle of the wall and will cover the hole.

I have looked at this fire can anyone advise if this is what I am looking for and how do you fit these fire surrounds?
