Kodak software and digital camera

Have been using my Kodak DX6490 for a year with the Kodak software supplied. I updated the software a few weeks ago and now keep getting problems. It wont transfer the pics from camera to PC via the USB lead. The only way I can get it to transfer is to go to Add/Remove programme, click the Kodak software then take the option to repair it. Once this is done it will work and tranasfer ok. Once the PC is switched off, it wont work next time its turned on and I have to go through this process of repairing the programme again. Any suggestions anyone ?
