Surge in spam emails driving me nuts

For the past few days I am getting 50/60 spam emails every day where normally it may be the odd one. The text is as per the example below. I have a xxxxxx@lineone.net email address (part of tiscali now) and pay £12 PA for extra spam filtering. But my ISP is Zen. Any ideas on what is going on?

Can you not increase the strength of your spam filter a notch or two? What email client are you using?

Try cleaning out your cookies (e.g. with the tools in a broswer such as Firefox, or with an app like cccleaner)

Try Mailwasher, to get rid of the spam at the mail server, and not have it downloaded to you.

But the only real way to get rid of the spam is to change your email address, keep the new one entirely secret, and set up temporary/individual emails (which point back to the secret email address) for each organisation you deal with . Google for things like "temporary email addresses".

Thanks for help so far - I use Outlook Express.

I did clean out all cookies, temp files, etc and used Ccleaner.

Perhaps I should just hope it will go away in a day or two.

Or longer term drop this address and use my gmail one but will need to update on a lot of sites?

You mention having a gmail address as well as the one you are having spam trouble with. I find gmail excellent at filtering spam - using Thunderbird as email client to access my gmail accounts results in virtually no spam getting through.

At intervals of a couple of weeks I log into gmail on the web to check the spam folder - usually there are 50 or 60 a day which have been intercepted and I have never had a genuine email stopped in error.

Thanks I guess my reluctance to drop the lineone address is that it is very short and very easy. The gmail is longer but I may search to see if there any short ones left.
