I don't mind that they bar the 09** numbers. I just think they're wrong to ask for such a large deposit to be able to use it. Yes, there are some irresponsible people out there who will run up huge phone bills that they can't hope to pay for ages, & also some scam merchants out there who will catch the greedy/vulnerable/naive. However, even if a £50 deposit cuts down on those situations, it will also cheese off the average customer who doesn't use the 09** now, but may well have to do so when they need to contact a helpdesk for example. It's wrong that at the very time you need help, your choices are to either find £50 to put on the account when you need to use the number & then wait 24 hours for it to appear on your account or pay the £50 well in advance & then let it sit there earning Bulldog interest instead of you.
Why not bar the 09** by default, & then say people have to input a PIN code to un-bar it (the use of which would then show up on their account), or just ask for a smaller deposit, for example £20?0 -
I actually think this is a good idea.
You can't dial these numbers from phone boxes either - lets face it they are just a rip off, and with so many people in debt, and premium rate dialers that can infect your pc, then overall it's terrific I think.Official DFW Nerd 071/£2 saver=£10
