Yes they did hun, but we're still here, no forced sale - CCCS assure me that it's unheard of when the property is the family home.

Are you not with CCCS anymore?

  • Just reading up and have you tried those hippo bag things which go in your cistern? They stop the loo filling up too much and it saves water as well as making absolutely no difference to the flushing! You can get them free I'm sure there was a link somewhere on the site - if not you can use a brick. Just a thought at keeping your water bills down...

I have also found the washing at 30 degrees in the machine works as does not having the heating on EVER. it's those big processes which take up the most power rathet than switching off the lights etc.

Also make sure you check your readings from when you moved in. EON took ours 18 months ago and managed to get it totally wrong - I didn't notice as the bills were £400, thren £600 then £800 - I just thought London was high. When I got one for 3 grand I realised something was up and it took loads of pushing for them to investigate. Basically if they get one wrong it gets more and more wrong as times goes on so I would definitely do a check. I always really want to do the thing where you take a meter reading each week and try and get it down further and further but as I'm never home it doesn't work for me. may be an idea.

Hi Kerron, your right there, it does look a massive amount but never seems to last the whole month either, for instance it hasnt lasted all of August!!!, I know we need to cut back, i have to find an extra £200 per month at least for the next 9 months until my secured loan is paid off.

Im also thinking i may have to ring RBS's solicitors today if nothing in the post, after we received the CCH they wrote to ask for payment or offer of payment and we sent the letter with same via recorded delivery but STILL had no reply yet and its been about 2 weeks now?? Is this usual?? Last thing we need is bailiffs or soemthing even worse turning up out of the blue - any advice on this?

rang RBS sols, they received my offer and are waiting on 'response' from their client - the robbing bar stewards the RBS!!!!

Dottyanne, a few comments in above. I remember reading your threads last year, I think if I am honest, its time to call in the professionals, phone the CCCS or National Debtline today for a chat, you have a really good income and I'm thinking a DMP is the way forward. Forget what I have just said, I have just read your post regarding your loan and your dad.

    Off for a think.....

I can remember you first time round when you were self employed. I loved keeping up with your thread. Its great seeing you back.

As far as you SOA goes. You're short every month, so you only have two choices. Either earn more or spend less.
Are you able to get another job thats higher paid? What about a second job? Overtime?
Otherwise you are going to have to cut back drastically on your 'movable' expenses.
So mobiles, sky, gym, food, children ( I'm assuming thats pocket money?). Those things seem to be the main items that you may be able to jiggle.

I guess it depends how desperate the situation feels. I know that for me when it starts feeling really desperate I am willing to really go bare bones on things, cutting back and doing without in all sorts of areas, but we all have our own comfort zones and pressure points and its important to try to figure out what those are for our own situations.

Hi Frankie, im aiming to do a bit of both if possible, i have loads of bits n bobs i can sell, unsure as to go down the car boot path or ebay as yet, also im gonna have to cut back, first port of call is the grocery shopping, im going to set myself a reduced grocery spend for september and see how i get on, to be honest its a tighten belt time for 9 months until this secured loan is paid off - seems like i had that one for ages and i will be glad to get shut!!! then the repayments should be manageable, however myself and OH are in the process of also looking for new jobs so the income could potentially increase before then too, keep you all posted..
