Courier for a scooter

Hi, I am in the process of biding on a scooter on ebay.
The scooter is 300 miles away from me so I will either have to arrange a courier or hire a van and go down and get it myself, I only have a cbt so do fancy driving it back up the road as it would take me all day:D
So, does anyone have any links to courier companies for scooters?
If I have to go down the road of hiring a van, can anyone recommend what type of harness / rope to use in order to secure the bike upright in the van, I will get a van that has racks on both side.
Thanks

Might be a problem here as carriers are often not keen on carrying something with petrol sloshing around. I think I would try to find one for sale locally to avoid this problem altogether and also to let you have a look at it before bidding.0

Buy locally. It's only a scooter not a dream vehicle. The cost of a courier could be ridiculously expensive, and therefore end up costing you more. Plus you're bidding on it without even seeing it.
What scooter is it? Can you post a link of the ebay auction?.....0 -
The scooter is 1 year old and is less than half the price of the retail price for new.
There isn't any local to me, the nearest is over 200 miles away.
I can get the bike delivered for roughly £150.
I am thinking more to hiring a van and just bringing it back up the road so that I can get too see it first.
Is it possible to put a scooter on a train?
The journey would be Milton Keynes to Glasgow.

WQhat are you going to do if there is a problem with it once you have it delivered?
Think you need to think this through more thoroughly.
When I have bought cars via ebay unseen it has been a small deposit down and then cash on delivery which covers me to a certain extent. But I will previously been through it thoroughly with the seller before bidding.0 -
Hi, yeah you are right about not parting with any money until I have seen the bike.
The bike is cash on collection, I was thinking about jumping the train down and seeing the bike, if everything was ok paying cash then arranging with the seller to have a courier to collect or bringing it back up on the train if this is possible.
Although, I am also thinking more of hiring a van and bringing up the road.
LOL, seems I am not sure what to do BUT I do want the bike.Money saving newbie but learning fast:D0 -
If it's any help, how big is the scooter - I have been known to carry one in the back of my VW Touran with the back seats out. (So you might be able to hire or borrow something smaller than a van, which only travels at 50mph).They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0
