We tried this configuration in the shop and found the toddlers legs seemed very squashed up? Also the main chasis seemed very large and heavy even when folded - do you not find it too big/heavy to go in the car easily?katie_jane wrote:hi ive got three small kids and i tried buggy board attached to pram when i had my second this worked ok but 2 and 3 were closer together so i bit the bullet and forked out for a jane powertwin its basically a double buggy with a car seat attached.i know theyre cexpensive and up to the birth i wondered if we had done the right thing but god it is ace .its really light compact for a two seater no probs getting in and out of shops plus baby faces me in the car seat whilst im pushing and my toddler is more than happy as she faces baby and thinks shes looking after him.cannot rave enough about this would give up dishwasher and second car before i would get rid of this!!! also they resell well on ebay so when ive done i will flog it on all being well
hope this helps and good luck

no it folds quite flat and the front wheel folds inwards. i can chuck it in the back of my car eaily enough and is fetched in and out of the car about five times a day during school run and trips to shops.as for the toddlers legs.sophie is 2.5 and has no probs i usually put her in first then archies car seat on after.i went through so many options before buying this but this worked out best for us .i even took to pouncing on people who were pushing powertwins to get on the spot reviews all of which were positive and helped us decide.
hope this helps

Hi,
I tried 3 different types to accommodate my 2 girls (25 months apart), 2 sourced from ebay, 1 borrowed! The first was a buggy with a clip on chair on the front, but this was a nightmare as the buggy was so heavy with the toddler on the front that I had probs getting up big curbs and around croners in supermarkets! the second was the Mamas & paas Aria which was fantastic, light, easy to fold, fits in a single width lift etc. etc., but belonged to my friend who lent it to me for a trip to spain without my DH. It was blissfully easy! The third I bought off ebay again, for about £70, had been used once and was fantastic, Graco duolite (side by side). It has a huge shopping basket, has a rain cover, is like pushing paper (until they started getting seriously large and then it was more a case of pushing boulders! They were 3 1/2 and 1 1/2 by then, and it was only rare!), and is really easy to collapse and put up (one handed is fine!). I loved that pram and only sold it (again on ebay) once they had grown out of it (or rather I had grown out of pushing it!). Buggy boards are great if your kids like them, mine was a terror and jumped off or bounced the whole time, it was removed quite quickly and she learnt to walk or skip everywhere instead!!
Hope this is useful. hapy hunting, I loved buying pushchairs, think DH was glad we stopped the babies at 2!!
BethMisguided maybe, but never really bad!! :A0 -

Thoughts? My initial thoughts: +ve, toddler would love it, innovative and imaginative, help balancing skills: -ve was would it keep bashing into your legs? Also, rain, large storage space needed + the sleeping toddler again rears its ugly head!
the strolli shouldnt bash your legs, as it comes out to the side of the pushchair, so no different to if you were walking, holding hands with your child
the sleeping toddler could be a negative, but i think once they get nearer to 3yrs old, they dont tend to sleep if they are out and about doing things. they may get tired if they have to walk, but other than that, they should be able to stay awake for at least a couple of hours on a shopping trip/walk?

Hi
We've got an 8 month old and a 2.5 year old.
We went for the Phil and Ted's option. It's been very good, although it should be for the price! So far we have mainly used it in the flat position with the extra seat on top. That way we can have the either the baby in the top seat and the toddler walking, or the baby asleep in the flat position, sometimes with the todder in the top seat. We haven't yet used it much in the other position (2 upright seats). I suspect that the baby will not be happy with the restricted view...
It is very light, compact and manageable compared with most 2-seaters, but it's true that it doesn't offer much shopping space. Splashing isn't a problem in the flat position, and we don't have enough experience with the upright position to comment on this.Let's settle this like gentlemen: armed with heavy sticks
On a rotating plate, with spikes like Flash Gordon

Hi
I can thoughly recommend the Britax Trekker travel system, its brilliant and excellant value for money at £199 when i bought it in November for my baby whos now 5mths old. the pushchair alone lies completley flat so is suitable from birth to 4yrs and the car seat is an isofix base (the safest kind i know). Its got fantastic suspension if you do alot of walking and a gigantic zipped shopping bag at the bottom, it also comes with a detachable bag at the rear of the pushchair which can save taking a change bag everywhere. The only cons i have noticed is that its quite wide at the back and is also heavy to lift once folded.

With my first daughter I had a urban detour (mothercare) travel system was very happy with it.
When number 2 daughter game along I got the XTS twister twin which was nice and light but quite wide and a HUGE hood so i felt a little self consious when i went into town or walked on pavement with it. At the time my sister in law had the phil and ted with 2nd seat so I tried it out and loved it.
I bought one brand new with second seat and double raincover for £300 which i thought was quite expensive but it has been worth every penny. Both my daughters seem to really like it, they are kept warm, dry and very comfortable I never get any complaints, the only negative is that my daughter 2 3/4 can open the 5 point safety harness herself.
I would highly recommed the phil and ted as it is an extremely versatile buggy.
I hope this helps,
Good Luck!

Hi, I have three children 2 years 9 months between 1st and 2nd and 2 years 3months between 2nd and 3rd. I didn't bother with a double buggy and the girls walked when a new baby went in the pram. I had a buggy board which the 1st loved but the middle one hated and refused to use. It took longer to go anywhere but hey what's the rush. The double buggy idea didn't appeal to me as I knew I'd only need it for a few months max and it would be such a waste of money. Try just the sling and walking (if your eldest is a wanderer try a wrist strap so she can't escape from you) and see how you get on before deciding if you want a travel system or double buggy. Also think about buying second hand, prams/buggys are so expensive and if you get one that someone has looked after you'll get what you need for a fraction of the cost of buying new. :j0

In need of help, have 2 month old and 2 yr old, presently have a mama and papas 03 sport, looks stylish, but now i need a double and mama and papas double is well ugly, so are many others. need something thats comfortable as mama and papas but a two seater. the only two i have that look ok are the mothercare detour urban ( but its bright red) mine at the mo is a subtle khaki colour, and the other is jane powertwin, but neither have a cushy seat, mothercare's is thin as paper unless you use the cosy toes,
Any advice?
