My sister dosn't subcribe to sky anymore but was getting the free channels (channel 5 etc) but now can't. I presume this is because there are new cards being sent out, my question is if she was to buy a freesat box would she have to buy a viewing card?

Freesat is different from the Sky Freesat channels. No card required.
If her card as expired, she can add FIVE manually into the Sky box. Just do a search on Google.Dave. :wave:0 -
As above, Freesat is different from FreeSatFromSky, Freesat doesn't require a viewing card, there however are less channels on the Freesat EPG, however you can manually add them.

Should be able to get some channels with just the box. (take out the old card if it's stopped working competely).0

The only channels lost without a non-subscription card are Sky3, FIVER and FIVEUS.
FIVE may disappear from the EPG, or request a card, but as I've said it can be added manually into 'Other Channels.'Dave. :wave:0
