Laptop Wireless Problems

Hoping for a bit of help.
I have a HP Compaq Presario F700. I always had wireless internet until around 4 months ago when I moved into a flatshare and had an ethernet cable in my room which I used (there was no wireless) which worked fine. I've now moved out of that house and back in with my mum for a while but can't get her BT wireless internet to work. She has a BT hub as a router.
I had her internet working before I moved so it's a bit odd. Basically the problem seems to be that it can't find the wireless connection. It does find it for a while then it disappears again, I haven't even been able to install the setup CD for it as it says it can't find the hub.
I phoned BT who asked me to plug in the ethernet cable, that didn't work either, they asked me to do a few things and then have decided to send out a new hub incase that is the problem. But surely if the hub was the issue then it would be affecting my mums main computer? She uses the ethernet cable for her desktop. BT said the hub would be here on Wed which it wasn't and now they say Sat by the latest but I'm not holding out much hope (they aren't the most honest of companies).
I was just wondering if any of you techie minded people would know anything about this? (I'm impatient)
Thanks

Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.

If the hub thingy is duff then yes the desktop wouldnt be able to connect, maybe its the wireless part of the hub thats duff, you tried restteing the router ? disconnect form the mains then reconnect after 30 secs, it might work though, you made sure your wireless drivers are up to date0

The desktop does connect, it's the desktop I'm on just now. The problem only seems to be with my laptop.Just because you made a mistake doesn't mean you are a mistake.0 -
