rewiring an old lamp

not sure if this is the right place, but i've seen some lovely original 50's table lamps on ebay. However, they have the original wiring fitted which would need replacing to modern standards.
Is this something i could do myself or would i need an expert?
cheers in advance

It depends on the lamps really, some are easy and some are very difficult.0

I'd say it could depend on whether you need new fittings as well as wire - the tricky bit can be the finding of bulb holders and the like that will actually fit the lamp.0

I collect antique lamps and have done countless re-wires - mostly very easy.
Ebay or your local hardware shop will have all the fittings you need including the flex; you may find a 'gold' flex suits your lamps rather than brilliant white."I'm ready for my close-up Mr. DeMille...."0
