Med Cruise - Tips & Advice needed

I am going on a cruise round the Med at the start of June. We will be going on Thomson Spirit and I am not sure what to expect. Has anyone cruised with Thomson before? I have no idea what to pack or how much money to take.
I also want to avoid most of the trips as they are a bit expensive and I want to explore by myself. I am struggling though to find out very much info though. I have searched the internet and don't want o tbuy a guide book for each place. We are stopping at:-
Sicily - Palermo
Naples - Italy
Ajaccio - Corsica
Toulon - France
Barcelona - Spain (I have been here a couple of times before)
If anyone has visited any of these places and knows what to do and where to go please let me know.
Thanks,

Hi
I travelled on the Thomson Destiny last year and it was really good - the entertainment is first class! I have done all but one of your destinations (have not been to Toulon). It is quite easy to do the excursions yourself and you can easily use public transport or share taxis with other guests. Not much in Naples we went to Pompeii also in Sicily we went to visit Etna and didn't stay in Palermo. I don't know if you have had a look at holiday-truths website as this has cruise reviews and forums where you will find a lot of information.
As for how much money to take - if you have a credit card you can settle your onboard account with this and therefore all excursions, drinks and purchases on ship can be paid this way. You then will only need spending money for your days in port for souveneirs.
Thomson ships have 2 formal nights when you can get dressed up - the other nights you can dress informally.
Hope this helps. If you have any more questions just ask0 -
Do a proper trip in Napels ...you know the old saying "See Naples and die" you will if you try and cross those roads..lol
We have been a couple of times Pompei is well worth it but on a proper trip.
If you dont want to do that and maybe go to Capri you could do that on your own but get off the ship really early becasue the ferry's get booked up with tours and same coming back get to the port in Capri early.
Both are excellent days Capri is a brillaint people watching place
Great site for cruises https://www.chat-page.com/ship/1/
BTW ..if you go to the Royal Cariibean site it gives you a long list of the trip and a fuller discription ..take no notice of the cost but it does give you an idea of whats in or near each port it will also tell you if there is a shuttle servcie like in Barcelona into townIf you look anything like your passport photo....Your too ill to travel0 -
We went on our honeymoon to the Caribbean on Thomson Emerald a few years ago.The food and entertainment is top class and the on board activities are especially useful for those days "at sea".My advice would be to go independently for any shore excursions as we did get ripped off going on the organised trips. Remember as a matter of courtesy to have an envelope for your cabin maid , and an envelope for your waiter for the week. We felt that it was important to reward those staff direct, as you are never quite sure if they would actually receive anything if you did it any other way. With regard to researching the locations , how about popping down to your local library and getting either the rough guides or the AA mini guides. Have a lovely time , I am sure you will cruise again .0
