Really stoopid question regarding electric supply...

Ok, I have rang EDF asking them to give me a quote as to how much it might cost if I choose to have the locaton of my electric meter moved. Im asking for a site survey, but in the meantime she said that she could give me a very rough estimate based on whether the supply comes in from above or below. I said it was from above, so she said that it would be between 400 and 700 quid. However, I then looked out the window after getting off the phone and realised that what I thought was the electric supply is actually the telephone wires,,, doh!!!

How do you know if your electricity comes in from above or below?? What does that mean anyway, does she mean underground wires??

looking around your house, how many cables come to your house from poles? if only one, and your pretty sure this for the phone, then yes, your electricity supply will be underground.
if your semi det' or terraced make sure cables don't hook up to neighbours house and clip across the wall to you.
another possibility to get a good idea, is your elec meter in a box outside the house? you may see a cable or cable conduit going from the box to the ground...
