How much do you spend on groceries each month?

My family spends about £500 on groceries each month. Thats for two adults and a baby. This includes everything (food, baby food, nappies, deodorant etc etc).
How much do you guys spend in total?
Also, is it me or is Tesco a bit expensive. I look at our weekly shopping and think "thats not that much... and we paid how much?!!?"

I shop in Tesco, same as you, 2 adults and a baby, same stuff as you (milk, nappies, toilettries) and our monthly bill is around £200!!! I meal plan and allow additional things to go into the trolly. I would certainly struggle to spend £400, let alone £500!!
I don't think Tesco is as expensive as anywhere else, went into our local Aldi today and some bits were more expensive. You want to get yourself over to the moneysaving oldstyle board to help get that down. There are larger families that us that spend less than £200pm on there!!!2013 wins: Persil Bunny0 -

When there is just the two of us, we spend around £350 per month plus a take away once a week as a Friday treat. That includes toiletries, cleaning stuff etc. My daughter and her fiancee have been staying with us for a couple of months, so the food bill has gone up but she contributes to that. I find that the non-food stuff is where the money goes

£60ish, one adult - includes cost of toiletries, paper towels, loo roll, cleaning stuff. That'd include the cost of takeaways and treats. I have no freezer or it would be cheaper.0

There's 2adults, 1teenager and 9 yr old max of £200 monthly and that's everything. Even including Christmas treats and alcohol wouldn't come close to OP. I do shop around and I cook 1 evening meal we all sit down together to eat. my freezer is always full of reduced items mainly bread and meat, just have to plan ahead.0

Wow. Thats it, I need to cut down.
Emma-uk can I ask what kind of stuff you buy, and how you manage to keep your spend so low?
Can anyone else publish their "strategy", do you buy value stuff, own brand or just shop smart? I have to admit we buy lots of organic and premium stuff.0 -
3 Adults- around £350 per month. Shopping in Sainsbury's would be nearer £500 if we did the same in Tescos (as we've experienced in the past!!).
We buy mostly fresh meat, fruit/veg, breads etc We have to eat well for medical reasons and the other half is quite fussy so unfortunately it's difficult for us to shop much cheaper and keep everyone happy.0
