Mobile Phone query

Hello, I had my IVA accepted last week and have a question regarding mobile phone contracts. I currently have 2 contracts one with Orange and One with 02. I moved the 02 contract to my new bank account, but the orange I left and have not paid since june. I no longer use the orange phone at all and it has another 6 months to run.. What wad happen to me if i did not pay this contract back? Can it affect my IVA? Anyone in a similar position?

Contact Orange and ask for the contract to be moved to the cheapest tariff they have... £5 or something. They will tell you they can only do it at a certain time (of the month or something) but insist that it gets done - even if you have to ring back at that time to oversee it! Then the following month ring up to cancel the contract. They will tell you you'll have to buy it out at £5 a month for 6 months, £30! (this is not an IVA answer, this is a vague understanding of how Orange work answer!)

You cannot pay this £30 as (ridiculous as it seems) it is a debt. That would be a preferantial transaction.

IVA answer - cancel the contract and have it included into your IVA. It's a debt!

How did you get this passed the people who drafted your IVA proposal? It should have been flagged up by you AND them and dealt with within the proposal! Let your IVA providers know now and simply say that is was an oversight!

*infact, ignore all that first part about Orange, just contact your IP to have it included - shouldn't amount to a whole pile of beans!
