What are they nicd, or what?0

I think I recall reading that NiMH batteries can take about 1000 recharges. NiCd can take far fewer though0

A new set of 2300 mah batteries is £10 at Jessops at the moment, so it may be worth getting some instead. 3 year old ones are not likely to be higher than 1800 mah.0

......and the thing is the nimh batterys last longer in the appliance since they have higher capacity, hence they are charged less times, and so they last even longer0

I know you can usually charge NiCds in a charger for NiMH but can you put NiMH into a NiCd charger?0

If you do need to buy some more then look here, battery-force, I find then very good and use them for all types.0

nicads, ni mh, li on, any mobile phone battery,(despite what the makers say) will suffer from 'memory' effect. In a nutshell fully discharge them from time to time to extend their lifenever put off buying a bargain today,it may be gone tomorrow0

This is what I do;- When new, always give them 3 or 4 FULL charges and discharges. With AA's I put mine into the baby monitor and they run down in a few days. Every month or two give them a full discharge then full charge. I do this with all my rechargables, even on my drills and circular saw. I cringe when I see someone buy an expensive Digital camera or camcorder with a dedicated expensive battery and give it 20 mins charge then start using it. Then only charge it when they need to. In 7 or 8 month they usually say, "The battery's faulty - it wont run the camera for long and it's £45 for a new one".
I think of these batteries as similar to the human body. They need to be exercised to be in the best shape. They only have a finite life. And if abused they won't last as long.Light blue touchpaper and stand well back !0 -

Maybe but hardly a site for Money Savers!
I agree with Weymouth Man about 7dayshop.
If you haven't got a decent delta V charger, which is what NiMh batteries need, then you would be hard pressed to beat their deal for a good quality charger and four 2600mAh cells for £9.99. Even taking the P&P into account, it's a very good deal.
