    I've been looking out for them for a couple of years but not found any yet. Its about the only mushroom I can be sure of picking and it being edible.

    You can see them from a mile away.

    But it's best to take them before they get quite so big, as at that size they are a bit watery.

    Puffballs are delicious! I found one again this year growing in the same place as previous years. It weighed over three kilos and I gave it to a restaurant as they have to be eaten up while they are still white and fresh. I like them raw too but they cook well. I am watching another but it is still small.
