Halifax FP problems today?

Anyone else having problems with Halifax Faster Payments today? I have one incoming payment which I expected to go by FP and which still hasn't arrived in my Halifax account, and another payment which I'm trying to make but which tells me it can't go by FP on this occasion. (I've tried the usual tricks of going back and starting the process again, logging out and back in, waiting half an hour, reducing the amount...still no joy.)

I transferred £891 today from Halifax via FP no problem and it was received immediately on the other side.
  • i was told - by the halifax- that faster payments only applied to less than £250. anything over will take usual 2-3 days - unless of course with same bank etc.

Can't be the case - I've done lots of FP transfers of more than that from Halifax to other banks.

The FP I was expecting to land in Halifax did arrive sometime this afternoon - at least five hours after being sent. I still can't get a FP from Halifax to LTSB today though - even though I sent a FP from the same Halifax account to the same LTSB yesterday (and it was over £900). Tried sending it to First Direct too, and it wouldn't do that either. In the end I transferred the money into my other half's Halifax account and sent it as a FP from there - which worked on the first try and appeared in LTSB right away.

So it looks like there was/is some localised problem there.

I do like that Halifax on-line banking tells you whether the payment will go FP or not, and that it does so in time for you to cancel it if you want. I don't know if any other banks do that - certainly none that I deal with anyway.

I have tried to do FP today but it seems no amount will go. I went in branch and I keep getting different answers to the question of what is the max amount for FP. The branch said we are proabably having problems with our faster payments system. It seems that nobody in that Bank seems to know what they are doing! I would seriously question opening accounts with HBOS or any other bank that has such low limits for BACS transfers or FP's. It will take you days to get your money out¬!

Nope, it's well over £250- I've taken more than that out by FP. I've done over £300 in the past week FP to RBS.
