Help with new Logitech ClearChat Style headset for Skype

Hello,

I hope this is the right forum to ask this type of query...

I have just purchased a Logitech ClearChat Style headset, with headphones and a microphone. I did this mainly to use Skype.

I have an Advent pc running with Vista Home edition.

On plugging the headset into my pc, I can't hear Youtube sound etc., though I can hear my own voice loud and clear when I speak through the mic. This suggests the headset is set up correctly. (I would have thought the headphones on the headset would work like any other headphones allowing playback of music, videos etc )

however, when I do a test call via Skype to check headphone/ mic set up, I hear the test sound but only 2 seconds of my recorded voice plays back before it fades away.

Finally, when I test the sound recorder on my pc, it plays back nothing.

If anyone can advise me on what to do, I'd be very grateful.

Thank you.

There ought to be two cables on the headset. To where exactly are you plugging them into?

    Hi there,

I've plugged the two jacks in to the sockets at the back of the pc tower- pink > pink; green > green

Go to Ctrl Panel>Sounds and then advanced and make sure that one of the jacks is not switched off by mistake
